Various VI technologies being juggled

Welcome to VI Tech Tutor

During my years as a student at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind, I had the opportunity to assist our computer teacher by working one-on-one with my fellow classmates. I helped them learn how to use various assistive technology devices, ranging from screen reading software to note takers, braille displays, and Apple products. Years later, I realize that helping people who are blind or visually impaired use assistive technology has always been my passion. And now, it’s my turn to give back to the people that gave so much to me.

I wanted to create something that would provide visually impaired individuals with locally based assistive technology support in the Raleigh Durham area, or by phone for those who live outside the general area. With the help of the North Carolina Reading Service (NCRS), my new venture, “VI Tech Tutor” will not only provide one-on-one tech support, but also free technology training to those individuals who need additional help with a device or software.

With future blog postings I will share my experience with various VI assistive technology devices. But remember, as I discuss various VI technology, I can neither endorse nor oppose their merits for your use as outlined in the legal section of the website.

All the best to you,

Noah Long
